The vision of the RAHUL GANDHI EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE TRUST, Trichy, blossomed in the name style of INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION at Pothavur about 15km from Trichy on the Trichy-Thogaimalai high road, Tamil Nadu. The Institute was launched in Feb 2006 with the prime objective of taking higher and professional education to the rural masses. It is housed in an imposing building pleasantly standing against a green backdrop extending over 3.43 acres of land. The total building area measures about 40,241 sqft.
The RAHUL GANDHI EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE TRUST was formed in the year 2004 with Thiru. Kattur.Mahalingam as its Managing Trust. In the year 2005 the trust deed was amended with Thiru. R.Murugesan as its Managing Trustee. Then in the year 2008 another amendment occurred incorporating Thiru.S.Rajagobal as the Managing Trustee, along with the other Two Trustees Mrs.P.Rajathi and Miss.S.Kalavathy.
The INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION after having come under the leadership of Thiru. S.Rajagobal and a new set of board members have started showing steady expansion in all dimensions. In order to cater to the diverse need of the student teachers, new optional subjects were introduced. It gave rise to the increase in the member of teaching, non-teaching and supporting staff. Moreover to meet the requirements of the newly appointed members of the staff, the management was kind enough to create additional space for conducting classes and the additional provisions for health and individual oriented activities.

It is heartening to note that our institution has an intake of 200 student teachers and rendering an effective Teacher Education Programme to the rural population monitored effectively by a strong team of committed Chairman Competent Director, efficient Principal and dedicated Teacher Educators assisted by an ever available and sincere administrative staff and academically technically supported by qualified Librarian, Physical Director, Yoga Master, Arts & Craft Teacher and Music Teacher.
The institution has had its impact on the stake holders by producing professionally competent teachers with humane values. In all state level exams many of our products have come out successfully to hold positions in schools, colleges and Government departments. The members of the staff are showing professional development by presenting papers in national and international conferences and by participating in job oriented workshops. As experts in their own field, they are offering free consultancy to children and individuals in need of psychological, personal and career counseling. The nearby schools avail the expertise of our teacher educators. In short the material and human resources are fully utilized for the development of all stake holders.
